Senoforum 2019 in Lugano (Switzerland): among the speakers, Dr. Roberta Mannucci, nutritionist at UPMC Institute for Health Chianciano Terme, with a presentation on “Nutrition and exercise programs: what patients can do during therapies”.
On October 24, Lugano hosted the Senoforum 2019 “Multidisciplinary care for breast cancer”, at the Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI). The event, organized by the Italian Switzerland Breast Cancer Center (CSSI), was focused on patients, families and caregivers, physicians, nurses, etc. The aim of the event was to share the latest advances in breast cancer treatments and to encourage reflections on the most discussed aspects regarding this pathology.
During the session “Side effects: how to manage them?” Dr. Mannucci illustrated the importance of physical exercise and nutrition not only in terms of prevention, but also during breast cancer treatments.
Dr. Mannucci is graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Perugia, where from 1993 to 2012 she conducted research in the field of oncohematology at the Department of Internal Medicine and Oncological Sciences. She obtained her PhD in Oncology after a four-year course managed by the University of Perugia and the European Institute of Oncology of Milan. Since 2013, she has developed and attended nutritional education and prevention programs as part of the “SmartFood” Nutrition and Communication Science program of the European Institute of Oncology of Milan. She currently coordinates the nutritional programs at UPMC Institute for Health Chianciano Terme. Her scientific activity is documented by 50 papers published in peer-reviewed journals and by numerous chapters in national and international books.
