A precision rehabilitation approach to counteract age-related cognitive decline.
Medical advancements have increased life expectancy, causing, on the other hand, a progressive aging of the world’s population and an increase in physical and cognitive disabilities. It is widely acknowledged by many international studies that sports play an important role in brain function. This clinical study analyses the effects of three types of physical exercise (aerobic activity, resistance activity, yoga) on the brain activity and cognitive function of ageing individuals. The purpose is to develop physical exercise programs, which are personalized based on behavioral and molecular biomarkers (indicators) to prevent or treat age-related cognitive decline.
LifeStyle4Health – Innovative precision systems for the prevention and management of lifestyle diseases
The project, financed by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, aims to create a platform for the primary and secondary prevention of lifestyle diseases (diet high in sugar and fat, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, physical inactivity) by using an artificial intelligence model based on the analysis of the data collected during the clinical study. The project will result in a Web portal and smartphone application to predict the health impact of the different exercise programs, which are personalized based on the clinical conditions and individual risk factors.
